The marathon, held annually since 1981, attracts tens of thousands of runners from all around the world each year and is one of the few World Marathon Majors that exists.
The London Marathon will begin at three different starting points in Greenwich Park. From there, runners will head through Woolwich and past the Cutty Sark docks in the River Thames. The course then proceeds through Rotherhithe and across Tower Bridge towards Canary Wharf, where competitors will then double back along the Thames riverfront.
The course finishes up along the Embankment, past the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace before concluding on The Mall.
